Transcribio is a transcription tool that runs entirely in your browser. There is no upload step: the speech model is downloaded to your machine once, and from then on every recording you transcribe is read off your own disk and processed by your own hardware.
It was built for Philippine audio first. Whisper has a well-known failure mode where Filipino speech decoded under an English setting comes back translated into English rather than transcribed — which is useless if you needed the actual words. Transcribio selects the Filipino decoder explicitly, so Tagalog stays Tagalog and code-switching survives into the transcript.
Transcripts are timestamped. Click any line to jump to that moment in the recording, edit what needs editing, and export as PDF, Word, plain text, or SRT and VTT subtitles. The raw transcript is kept immutable underneath your edits, so the engine’s original output is always recoverable. There is a separate PDF to Word converter that works the same way — locally, with nothing uploaded.
It’s free while we test it — no sign-up, no credit card and no daily limit. Because the work happens on your device rather than on rented GPUs, there’s no server bill behind it. All we ask in return is feedback: tell us what broke and what you wish it did.

Frequently asked questions
How do I transcribe a video to text?
Open the app, drop your video onto the drop zone, choose the audio language, and press Transcribe. The first run downloads the speech model; after that it starts immediately. When it finishes you get a timestamped transcript you can edit and export.
Does it handle Taglish?
That is the reason it exists. Most transcription tools decode Filipino speech through an English setting, which quietly translates it into English. Transcribio picks the Filipino decoder explicitly, so code-switching is written down the way it was said.
Is there a file size limit?
No server limit, because nothing is uploaded. Very long files are read in chunks rather than loaded whole, so length is limited by your computer's memory rather than by us. Long recordings are saved as they go, so if something interrupts a run you can continue from where it stopped.
Is it really free?
Yes — completely free while we test it. No sign-up, no credit card and no daily limit. Your own computer does the transcription, so there is no server bill behind it. In return we ask for feedback: the Give feedback button at the bottom right goes straight to us.
Where do my files go?
Nowhere. The recording is read by your browser and processed on your device. It is never uploaded, so there is no copy of it on our servers to leak, subpoena or delete.
Do you ever see my transcripts?
Only if you choose to. After a transcription you can rate how accurate it was, and there is a separate, unticked box to share that transcript's text and your corrections to help us improve it. Leave it unticked and the transcript never leaves your browser. The audio and the file name are never sent either way.
What can I export?
PDF, Word (.docx), plain text, and SRT or VTT subtitles. The Word export opens in Google Docs too.
What do I need to run it?
A recent desktop browser. It starts in Light mode, which uses only part of your computer and downloads a speech model once (roughly 0.6–1.1 GB depending on your computer, cached after that). You can raise it to Balanced or Maximum for more speed — and even Maximum leaves headroom for everything else you're running.
