The most common recording format there is, turned into a transcript without a round trip to anyone's server.

01How it works

Three steps, no account for the file

01

Drop the file in

Video or audio, any length. Your browser reads it straight off your disk — there is no upload bar because there is no upload.

02

Pick the language

Filipino / Taglish keeps code-switching as spoken. English-only is there for recordings with no Filipino in them.

03

Edit and export

Click any line to jump to that moment. Fix what needs fixing, then take it as PDF, Word, TXT, SRT or VTT.

02Why this is different

Every other tool uploads your recording

That single design decision is where the price, the limits and the privacy policy all come from. Remove the upload and most of them stop being problems.

About this tool

MP3 to Text

MP3 is what most recorders, dictaphones and podcast exports produce, and it is the format people most often need turned into text. Drop one in and Transcribio decodes it locally.

Long MP3s are read progressively rather than loaded into memory whole, so a multi-hour recording does not need a multi-hour file's worth of RAM.

The output is a timestamped, editable transcript with PDF, Word, TXT, SRT and VTT export.

03Questions

Frequently asked questions

How long can the MP3 be?

There is no imposed limit. The practical ceiling is your own machine's memory, and the app reads long files in chunks specifically so that ceiling is high.

Is it really free?

Yes — completely free while we test it. No sign-up, no credit card and no daily limit. Your own computer does the transcription, so there is no server bill behind it. In return we ask for feedback: the Give feedback button at the bottom right goes straight to us.

Where do my files go?

Nowhere. The recording is read by your browser and processed on your device. It is never uploaded, so there is no copy of it on our servers to leak, subpoena or delete.

Do you ever see my transcripts?

Only if you choose to. After a transcription you can rate how accurate it was, and there is a separate, unticked box to share that transcript's text and your corrections to help us improve it. Leave it unticked and the transcript never leaves your browser. The audio and the file name are never sent either way.

What can I export?

PDF, Word (.docx), plain text, and SRT or VTT subtitles. The Word export opens in Google Docs too.

What do I need to run it?

A recent desktop browser. It starts in Light mode, which uses only part of your computer and downloads a speech model once (roughly 0.6–1.1 GB depending on your computer, cached after that). You can raise it to Balanced or Maximum for more speed — and even Maximum leaves headroom for everything else you're running.

What we ask

Tell us what to fix

Use the Give feedback button at the bottom right of any page. It takes a minute and goes straight to the people building this.

  • It crashed, froze or was slow on your computer
  • It misheard words, or got Taglish wrong
  • Something was confusing or hard to find
  • A feature you wish it had

Feedback sends what you type plus basic browser info. After a transcription you can also rate its accuracy, and optionally share that transcript's text to help us fix mistakes — only if you tick the box. Recordings are never sent.
